Watch Ahead! Check carefully before stepping over rocks, hiking into high grass, reaching onto ledges or sitting down on a rock or log.

North Dakota's Most Venomous Killer Is Out

They Will Strike First!

According to the MHA Emergency Operations Center Facebook Page, "In recent years, there have been a growing number of Prairie Rattlesnakes being found in the Dakotas with atrophied tail muscles that have reached adult size without ever developing a rattle. It is important to be aware of your surroundings and not depend on hearing the warning rattle to alert you of a nearby rattlesnake."

Cross paths with a rattlesnake or any snake... Remain calm and do not panic.

Stay at least 5 feet from the snake. Make sure to give it plenty of space.
