Y'all have to help me out here.

I arrived in Bismarck in 2001 and I swear the North Dakota High School State Track Meet has been in Bismarck every year since. It's coming up again this weekend in Bismarck.  I'm sure it's not always been in Bismarck, but I'm pretty darn sure it's taken place in Bismarck/Mandan ever since I've taken root in Bismarck/Mandan.

I tried googling the history of ND State Track to no avail.

I could have gone through page 220 of 400 in the search results, but I figured there were hopefully enough of you timeless track athletes that could take us back to a decade where sprinters from Bowman had to go to Grand Forks to compete.

Unlike other sports, Bismarck's central location must be the deciding factor.

Like the North Dakota State Fair? Also, over the years, Bismarck's Community Bowl has maintained and updated its facility to meet the needs of a vast field of competitors.  Updated so much that I'm proud to call it the MDU Resource Community Bowl because obviously, those folks are writing checks to help it all happen.

Never just assume things remain the same...Finals in HS Football are only in Fargo.

And, they're never coming back.  So Bismarck, let's be thankful and diligent that we have the opportunity to host the state's olympic games right here in our own bowl! Here's hoping that the breeze doesn't pick up over the next few days.  The forecast looks good.  All the kids have worked so hard in their events it's a shame when they are denied a state record because it was "wind-assisted". Especially if they're a senior.  It's one thing to win, it's another to stick a State Record up on the board on your way out.
