South Dakota Remembers Filming of “Dances With Wolves”
Folks around Pierre, South Dakota are preparing for the 25th anniversary of the local filming of Dances With Wolves.
Portions of the Oscar-winning film were shot in the area in 1989. The Rapid City Journal reports speakers will share experiences at the mid-July celebration. Star and director Kevin Costner is not expected to attend, but may show up for next year's commemoration of the film's release..
Nearly 100 area residents were involved in the filming.
