Minot Senator Oley Larsen has introduced a new bill that could potentially give babies born in North Dakota a leg up on most of the country from an early age.

The new measure would create a new account in the Bank of North Dakota with $5000 in it for any baby born in North Dakota after Jan 1st, 2017.

The funds from this account could be used to pay for tuition at a State College/University, or to pay for a business, home, or farm loan once the child becomes an adult.

The Senate started considering the new legislation on Wednesday (3/4) and modified the proposal to study the idea before implementing it.
