Travel The Steps Of The MHA Tribes In ND At New Interpretive Center

Pack the car, this is a drive off the beaten path that is worth the fuel and the time. Located 100 miles northwest of Bismarck / Mandan lies the Fort Berthold Reservation and home to the newly constructed MHA Nation Interpretive Center.

To understand and appreciate the state of North Dakota, one must venture off the major highways, and become acquainted with the rich history of the Three Affiliated Tribes. The mark left by the MHA Nation "Then" and "Now" is impressive.

The Three Affiliated Tribes, made up of the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nations made their homes along the Missouri River.

Expect at this museum to be taken along the life and times endured

and how the tribes survived against Mother Nature's extremes.

The Horse was a very important tool for the Native Americans in the Dakotas.

The timeline and story told of how the MHA Nation evolved their horsemanship was fascinating and is appreciated yet today!

If given the chance, take in the MHA Indian Horse Relay that takes place at the North Dakota State Fair.
