West Region Boys Hockey Tournament Preview
The West Region (WDA) tournament begins this morning (Thursday) at 11am at VFW Arena here in Bismarck. Four of the eight teams will advance to this years state tournament at Scheels Arena in Fargo.
The tournament is probably more wide open than it's been in many years. Minot comes in as the #1 seed in the tournament, followed by Bismarck Century. Both those teams appear to be a lock to make it to next weeks state tournament. After that however, it's anybody's guess.
Bismarck High has lost seven games in a row and is tied for the worst record going into the tournament with Williston. Despite that, the Demons are the 4th seed and will play a Jamestown team they lost to 7-3 on Friday night to close out the regular season. This game could go either way. We will have this game on our sister station Super Talk 1270 and www.supertalk1270.com at 1pm today.
The 2nd seed Bismarck Cenutry will play Williston at 5pm and should have little trouble with the Coyotes. The other game that should be very exciting is #3 Mandan will play #6 Dickinson. The teams split their two games played this season.
