
What to Expect at the 2015 United Tribes Technical College International Powwow
The 46th Annual UTTC International Powwow will provide families with educational and culture-filled fun September 10-13 at the Lone Star Arena.
This event is truly one of a kind as over 70 tribes are represented, drawing more than 20,000 visitors annually. It was recently announced that the Powwow will be featured in the fall issue of Destination Magazine. The UTTC International Powwow was also named one of the best 10 in the nation!
The cost is $20 to all dance and drum competitions for the four days. Daily admission is $10. Seniors (65 and older) and children (5 and under) are free. The Grand Entry times are as follows:
- Thursday, September 10th - 7 p.m.
- Friday, September 11th - 1 p.m. & 7 p.m.
- Saturday, September 12th - 1 p.m. & 7 p.m.
- Sunday, September 13th - 1 p.m.
Camping opened on Tuesday, September 8. It is free of charge to camp in designated areas on campus. There is round-the-clock security. Drugs, alcohol and pets are not allowed on campus.

Be sure to make time to look at the the items being sold at the vendor fair. Items include:

- Powwow Collectibles
Many come out for the food alone as the Powwow offers a wide variety. One of the most popular items is the 'Indian Taco.'

School classes and groups, age K-8, are invited to attend Youth Day at the Powwow. It begins at 9 a.m. and runs through the morning.
Classes can expect an educational experience through:
- Singing and Drumming
- Presentations
- Tribal Dance
- Audience Participation
There is no entry cost for students, teachers and escorts. You can purchase or bring your own lunch.

Stop by and watch some softball with this tournament open to men and women. There will be two different classifications:
- All Native American Divisions - All players must prove Native blood via CIB, enrollment letter, or letter of descent.
- Mixed Division - Open to all players, non-tribal and tribal.

Buffalo Feed

United Tribes honors the well respected tradition of a buffalo feed. Dancers, singers, and visitors are invited free of charge. The buffalo is donated by the Spirit Lake Tribe, one of UTTC's governing tribes.
