WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — A collision involving an Amtrak train and a bulldozer in northwestern North Dakota killed the driver of the bulldozer.

The Highway Patrol did not immediately identify the 45-year-old Williston man.

Amtrak's Empire Builder train was traveling from Seattle to Chicago with 326 passengers and crew members when it collided with the bulldozer at a private crossing about 9 miles west of Trenton on Monday evening. KUMV-TV reports that no train passengers were hurt but two engineers were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The patrol says there was significant damage to the lead locomotive of the train. KUMV reports that the front wheels of the locomotive came off the tracks. The station says another train arrived about seven hours later to pick up the stranded passengers.
