Two people are dead following a crash on Thursday morning (Jan. 18) in Grand Forks County.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 19 year old was negotiating a curve while traveling westbound on Highway 15 about 12 miles from Thompson, North Dakota.

A 59 year old with two passengers in the car was negotiating the same curve heading eastbound.

The 19 year old driver crossed the center line and crashed head on into the oncoming car. The 19 year old and the 59 year old drivers were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

However, two passengers traveling with the 59 year old, a 59 year old female and a 97 year old female died. The 59 year old was pronounced dead at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. The 97 year old was pronounced dead on scene.

The 19 year old driver is Brenden Myron of Northwood. The 59 year old driver is Scott Grund of Hatton.

Myron was not wearing a seat belt. Grund and his two passengers were all wearing theirs.

The names of the two deceased passengers are being released on Jan. 19 according to police.

At the time of the accident, weather conditions were clear but the road was covered in frost. The accident occurred at 10:45 a.m.

UPDATE 1/19: The names of the deceased have been identified as Lynette Ysteboe (59) and Alpha Flatten (97).
