Cold is about to get colder.

An arctic cold front is expected to sweep into town bringing with it temperatures as low as -40 wind chill... Ouch.

According to the Bismarck Tribune:

There is a chance of light snow ahead of the front Wednesday evening. Given the recent rounds of fresh snow in Bismarck and Mandan, areas of blowing and drifting snow are expected Wednesday night into Thursday afternoon. The blowing snow may cause significant visibility reductions, with near whiteout conditions possible.

An inch to 2 inches of snow was anticipated to fall through the overnight hours.

Now here's the thing that confuses me, how do we get snowfall in below zero temperature? Wouldn't precipitation need moisture to develop?  I'm not a meteorologist but it does seem kind of weird. Anyway, it's gonna be super cold this week so if I were you I'd stock up on the chili and chicken soup.
