An anonymous post was made on the Bismarck Reporting News Facebook page; a woman shared a story that really touches the heart. We've all heard of the "Pay it Forward" trend, but was quite the gesture.

The Story

The woman posted that she was checking out at the North Bismarck Walmart, buying school supplies for her children when something unexpected happened. And, before I tell you, I just want to point out that the cost of school supplies is INSANE; it keeps going up and up. Anyway, as the woman was checking out and her total got to more than $300, another woman approached her and offered to do something pretty incredible.

This other woman asked if she could pay for her groceries. Stunned, the woman checking out asked this woman if she was sure, because it was very expensive. She also asked why she wanted to do that. The woman responded, that it was because she was buying school supplies, and "It was for the kids."

How Sweet?!

Now, I'm not saying people need to do something quite as grand as this, but if you can do a little something to help out, I'm sure it will go a long way.

Appreciation

My favorite part of this is how grateful and appreciative the woman was about this gesture. She said in the post:

"You made such a difference in my life today- your act of kindness brought light to my darkness and helped me see the beauty in the world and the people who live in it. I needed you mentally today."

You never know how much of an impact you can have on a person's life. It's things like this that bring our little community together and make it such a great place to live. Keep being "North Dakota Nice" and remember: kindness is a powerful thing.
