Boxer Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, once jailed on a murder rap and later the subject of a Bob Dylan song and movie, is dead of prostate cancer.

Carter, convicted of a triple murder in the sixties and later exonerated, was the subject of a 1999 film starring Denzel Washington.

The Carter case also inspired a song by Bob Dylan as well as numerous books.  He remained a subject of controversy, as some were convinced he had gotten away with murder.
