It's a guilty verdict for Morris Brickle-Hicks, in the murder of Misty Coffelt. The Bismarck Tribune says, "the 12-member jury returned its unanimous guilty verdict on Class AA felony murder at 4PM, following two hours deliberation."

The conviction follows days of testimony where investigators gave grisly details of the crime.

In the closing, State's Attorney Julie Lawyer reviewed prosecutorial evidence, saying the defendant fatally stomped Ms. Coffelt, hid her body and left her to die.

In a video shown in court, the Tribune says Mr. Brickle-Hicks was seen admitting to detectives that he struck Coffelt repeatedly and left her still alive but seriously injured.

The defense attorney, James Loraas, said reasonable doubt exists in the case. The defense called no witnesses in the case.

The Tribune says Ms. Coffelt's children were present for all four days of the trial.

The date for sentencing is to be set following a chemical dependency screening.
