BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota fisheries personnel recently stocked seven waters with catchable trout.

Jerry Weigel with the state Game and Fish Department says the trout will provide fall and winter fishing opportunities.

More than 800 Shasta strain rainbow trout were stocked in the Turtle River near Arvilla in Grand Forks County, while 115 went into the Owls Pond in Burleigh County. Weigel says the fish average more than a pound each, and some are as big as 5 pounds.

In addition, Wyoming's Game and Fish Department provided 7,500 Firehole strain rainbows as part of an annual trade for walleye fingerlings. Those half-pound fish were stocked in McGregor Dam in Williams County, Lightning Lake in McLean County, Fish Creek Dam and Harmon Lake in Morton County, and Mooreton Pond in Richland County.
