Cold Snap To Linger Through Mid-Week

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Bitterly cold weather continues to blanket the Dakotas as the workweek begins.

The National Weather Service has posted wind chill advisories for both North Dakota and South Dakota, with the combination of cold temperatures and wind making it feel as cold as 40 degrees below zero in some areas. The weather isn't expected to warm until later in the week.

The cold snap began late last week, with wind chills over the weekend plunging to as low as 47 degrees below zero in the South Dakota city of Aberdeen and 51 degrees below zero in the North Dakota city of Dickinson.

The cold weather didn't stop hundreds of people from flocking to the Terry Peak Ski Area in western South Dakota's Black Hills when it opened for the season Saturday.
