Don’t Worry, Alec Baldwin’s Trump Will Be Back for ‘SNL’ This Fall
Most everything we’ve heard from SNL Season 43 has involved those leaving the series behind, so there’s finally good news from up top. So long as our national nightmare persists, Alec Baldwin will be back in his golden wig to deliver that bigly famous Trump impression.
Baldwin confirmed as much to CNN, despite the actor’s prior concern with the impression proving too difficult to sustain. The joke reached a fever pitch with Baldwin’s seventeenth (!) SNL hosting, and the actor suggested future appearances could be few and far between:
Probably, a little bit of that … there will be a couple celery sticks of that every now and then, but not a whole meal, maybe. I don’t know, I have a lot of things I’m going to do this fall, things I’m working on. We’ll probably do some Trump. We’re going to fit that in, I think people have enjoyed it.
Granted, SNL’s fall premiere is a lifetime away in news cycles, even if Baldwin opted to appear in August’s Weekend Update spinoff. There’s also no guarantee any of his fellow Trump administration impersonators will reprise their roles, as even the real Spicey isn’t keen to be on-camera these days.
Elsewhere of SNL Season 43, the series has confirmed exits for cast members Sasheer Zamata, Vanessa Bayer and Bobby Moynihan, while other reports suggest head writers Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider will be leaving the series behind. We’ll hear more in the next few months, so stay tuned.
