The North Dakota State Bison are ranked fourth in the first poll from the Football Championship Subdivision's playoff committee, which was released on Thursday, November 3rd.

The Bison, who currently hold a record of 7-1, are hoping to continue their FCS dominance with a sixth straight championship this season.

According to InForum, Jacksonville State, who the Bison defeated for the FCS championship last year, currently hold the top spot. Sam Houston State is ranked second in the poll and Eastern Washington is ranked third.

This was the first time ever that a playoff poll was released in the middle of the season. The FCS is following in the footsteps of the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), who just released their first postseason poll a few days ago.

Here is the initial poll from the Football Championship Subdivision's playoff committee in its entirety:

  1. Jacksonville State
  2. Sam Houston State
  3. Eastern Washington
  4. North Dakota State
  5. James Madison
  6. The Citadel
  7. Richmond
  8. Chattanooga
  9. Charleston Southern
  10. Central Arkansas

The next poll will be released on Thursday, November 10th.
