MANDAN, N.D. (AP) — Two motorcycle clubs hope to begin construction next summer on a memorial at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery to prisoners of war and soldiers missing in action.

The Vietnam Vets Legacy Vets Motorcycle Club and the Second Brigade Motorcycle Club have raised more than $140,000 toward the $200,000 cost. The Bismarck Tribune reports the clubs hope the public can help with the remaining money so they can begin construction after Memorial Day.

Planning for the North Dakota POW-MIA Memorial has been ongoing for about six years. It would honor soldiers from World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Cold War.

The memorial will consist of granite walls etched with scenes from each conflict and bearing the names 360 North Dakota soldiers.
