Thanks to kind souls in our community, all of Bismarck Public Schools kids in need will have the proper winter clothes to stay warm in the brutal North Dakota winter.

It has been unseasonably warm. But, as we all know, winter in North Dakota does actually get quite cold. I can't imagine what it is like to not have the proper gear to survive the harsh weather in our state. But there are people in our communities who are unable to afford cold weather gear. So, thank goodness for the generous people who choose to help others in need.

Back in early October, Hot 97-5, US 103-3, 96-5 the Fox, Cool 98.7, and SuperTalk 1270 were hyping up the Bismarck Public Schools' Kids' Kicks donation drive. We spent a Saturday in the SCHEELS' parking lot, collecting snow boots, gloves, and snow pants. Between donations from the drive and other donations for the cause throughout October, the Kids' Kicks event was SUCCESSFUL in helping kids in need.

According to a news release from the Bismarck Public Schools Foundation, the community came together to fulfill the request by the BPS Student Services department to help kids in the school system who were in need of winter gear. The BPS Foundation teamed up with SCHEELS, Townsquare Media, Probitas Promotions and BPS along with the Bismarck Tribune to successfully fulfill the need for winter clothes.

The Bismarck Public Schools and Foundation want us to know that there are still other areas of need in the school system. You can learn more about helping here.
