MANDAN, N.D. (AP) — Mandan fireworks vendors say they're pleased with sales over the holidays.

The Legislature passed a law this year that allows fireworks to be sold from the day following Christmas through New Year's Day.

Britta Knutson manages the Memory Fireworks south of Mandan. She tells the Bismarck Tribune business is good and word is just starting to be spread that they are open. She says people are excited about being able to start the new year off with a bang.

Mandan allows fireworks to be ignited within city limits after 5 p.m. on New Year's Eve and until 1 a.m. on New Year's Day. Across the river in Bismarck, it's illegal to do so within city limits.
