PAGE, N.D. (AP) — A woman has died after her car was struck by a train near the eastern North Dakota town of Page.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the 67-year-old North Dakota woman was on a gravel road Sunday evening when she attempted to cross the tracks at 15 mph. Her car was struck by a BNSF Railway train pulling 73 cars at 52 mph. Both the train and car slid about one-third of a mile down the tracks before coming to a stop.

The Highway Patrol says the train operator activated the emergency brakes after seeing the car, but the train could not stop in time. The woman was flown to a hospital in Fargo, where she died of her injuries.

The woman's name has not yet been released.
