NDSU Bison Standout Playing For A Chance At Super Bowl
This Sunday regardless which team is "your team" there is something special about being from North Dakota. We are people that are proud to be where we are from. To some that may sound like an odd phrase. But I guarantee the more you visit with those from afar, the more respect you have for our roots here. Furthermore, we are proud of those that succeed. Show the world the grit and determination we have. A year after leaving Frisco, Texas after winning a fourth national championship and becoming a North Dakota State All-American offensive lineman, the story seems unreal.
FROM 9-MAN FOOTBALL TO THE NFL
North Dakota's attention will be on one man, who has beat the odds to now be playing for a chance to possibly be at Super Bowl LVII on Sunday, February 12th, 2023.
The Cincinnati Bengal's selected this offensive lineman who began as 9-man football player in high school.
MEET CORDELL VOLSON
A hero in many young athletes' eyes. Balfour, North Dakota is Cordell Volson's hometown, a town that had 20 residents as of the 2020 census. Volson attended Drake-Anamoose High School, a combination of three communities: Drake, Anamoose and Balfour. Three communities combined had 542 residents in that same 2020 census. Playing on a football team that took all it had to scrape together enough kids for a 9-man team, and began playing varsity as just an eighth grader.
Fast forward, Volson would go on to become an NDSU Bison standout. Following that success, Volson was selected in the fourth round by the AFC Champion Cincinnati Bengals, to protect their all-world quarterback, Joe Borrow. Continuing to work as hard as he ever has, impressing coaches and leading to him being a part of the starting lineup for the season opener, and he hasn't left the lineup since.
No matter how one feels about their favorite teams, we feel it is safe to say, we are proud to call Cordell Volson one of our own. North Dakota will be cheering for Volson.
