FARGO, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota State University is reporting the second-highest enrollment in history for first-year students seeking undergraduate degrees.

The school says that 2,578 students were registered Tuesday, the first full day of fall classes.

Enrollment for first-year students is up more than 100 students, or more than 4 percent, from the first day of fall 2012 classes.

Graduate student enrollment is up more than 13 percent over last year, with 2,063 students.

The official total enrollment count is taken four weeks into the semester and will be released on Sept. 24.
