You haven't had the full North Dakota State football experience until you've tailgated on a brisk fall day outside Fargodome. The Daily Meal agrees and has placed NDSU at the top of the list of best colleges for tailgating in the nation.

NDSU takes the number four spot on the list of 25, beating out many top universities across the country. With parking lots open five hours before kickoff, It doesn't take long for the Fargodome to fill up with devoted fans whether it's sunny and 75 or 20 degrees.

Here's what The Daily Meal thinks about NDSU's tailgate experience:

Reserve your spot early if you are a Bison fan: things are about to get intense. With a killer marching band, an intense spread of food, and a whole lot of diehard fans, tailgating in North Dakota is an experience. The coolest part about a North Dakota State tailgate has to be their traditions. For one, at the game, you can play a real life game of “Where’s Waldo?” by finding the one kid at the game who is dressed up like that elusive character. Deer sausage, as it is affectionately called, is a must for the menu. And Icehole (mint schnapps) is a staple. You shouldn’t have to ask about it though, because according to real fans if you need an explanation, “stay far away.”

NDSU falls behind the University of Southern California, University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) and Louisiana State University.

The Bison take on the University of the Incarnate Word for their first home game this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. They are also hosting ESPN College GameDay for the second year in a row. If there's any weekend to pull ahead of the other universities for best tailgating, it's this one!
