The Painted Canyon Overlook at Theodore Roosevelt National Park will open after all.

Two weeks ago spokesmen reported the overlook, a victim of budget sequestering, would not open in the spring as scheduled.

Wednesday, park Superintendent Valerie Naylor said she has preliminary approval from Washington, D.C., to open the scenic overlook from May 25 until Labor Day, and possibly through September.
