Seriously.

During a conversation this week about the ongoing flap between President Donald trump and Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings (and by extension the city of Baltimore), North Dakota Senator Kevin Cramer said the following:

"I could be a victim of racism, but I don’t offend easily, I just don’t offend that easily.”

When asked to elaborate, Mr. Cramer said sometimes he gets "snide remarks" about being from North Dakota.

The senator's comments follow the president's weekend tweetstorm attacking Rep. Cummings, and describing his home district, which includes part of metro Baltimore) as a "rat infested mess."

Mr. Cummings serves Maryland's 7th Congressional District and serves as chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee.

After critics and politicians accused the president of racism, he doubled down. “There is nothing racist in stating plainly what most people already know, that Elijah Cummings has done a terrible job for the people of his district, and of Baltimore itself."
