Russia Gets Snooty With North Dakota Senator Kevin Cramer

What do actor Sean Penn and Senator Kevin Cramer have in common?

They're both permanently banned from going to Russia!  We understand Spicoli getting banned. (anybody? Fast Times At Ridgemont High) Or maybe Vladimir Putin didn't like what Sean did to Andy in the movie Mystic River.  Or maybe Putin didn't like the fact Sean was married to this gal- remember that?

Nope, most likely Putin banned Sean Penn from Russia for being such an anti-facist loudmouth to anyone that will listen. Plus, he's filming a documentary about the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

OK, but what about Senator Kevin Cramer? And...actor Ben Stiller?

They're both permanently banned from stepping foot in Russia! Ben Stiller knows that if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.  But it seems he's been hit squarely by a ban from visiting Russia!  Was it because he killed that cat in that Fockers movie? Did Putin want the lead in Zoolander?

But instead, permanently banned for life! Because Stiller says crazy stuff like this...

Stiller is currently a goodwill ambassador for the UN’s High Commissioner for Refugees and met with Zelenskyy in June. The 56-year-old wrote on social media recently: “Nobody chooses to flee their homes. Seeking safety is a right and it needs to be upheld for every person.”

So why get snooty with North Dakota Senator Kevin Cramer?

Hey, y'all like growing durum.  We like growing durum too!  Y'all like guns. We like guns too! Russia and North Dakota are latitudinally (thanks to auto-correct) connected.

OK, I looked it up and we're not that connected geographically. But we have plenty of Germans from Russia if that helps.

So why all the banning of Kevin Cramer?

Seems Kevin has a bone in his craw for Russian meddling in our fields of expertise

U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo was on the new sanctions list, as were several American senators: Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, Kevin Cramer of North Dakota, Mike Rounds of South Dakota, Rick Scott of Florida, and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania.

 

Russia's Foreign Ministry said the group, which also included business leaders, academics and government officials, would be banned permanently from entering Russia.

Kevin Cramer co-sponsored a bill to ban Russian uranium resources from being sold to the United States. He's all behind blocking all Russian energy imports and has been an overall anti-Putin pundit. Seems fair. Putin will go down as one of history's great villains.

So, Kevin congratulations, and sorry about permanently missing out on any planned Moscow vacations.
