BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A legislative energy committee is slated to mull a proposal from North Dakota Democrats to require regulators to publicly report all oil spills and other hazardous leaks.

North Dakota Democratic lawmakers say they are seeking bipartisan support for the proposed legislation.

Senate Majority Leader Rich Wardner heads the Energy Transmission and Development Committee, which is meeting Thursday at the state Capitol.

The Dickinson Republican says the proposed measure is worth considering but that he needs more information.

The committee is made up of eight Republicans and four Democrats.
