One of the nation's best-known tele-journalists has gotten himself in a flap - and the president has weighed in.

The Washington Post reports CNN anchor Chris Cuomo was captured on video this week amidst an altercation with a man who called him “Fredo,” after fictional character Fredo Corleone from “The Godfather” films.

In the video (posted above), Mr. Cuomo uses profanity has threatens to push the man down a flight of stairs.

President Trump blasted Mr. Cuomo for his actions in a series of Tweets, calling him "out of control" and suggested the anchor be put on a "red flag" list list that would prevent him from being able to buy firearms.

As the Post notes, the crux of the controversy centers around the man's use of the term "Fredo," which Mr. Cuomo described as an ethnic slur against Italian-Americans.

“It’s an insult to your people," said the anchor. "It’s like the n-word for us.”
