This week, Jena Gullo and Amber Ruzicka from the Missouri Slope Areawide United Way in Bismarck-Mandan stopped by to fill us in on the latest from the United Way.

In the news: the United Way opened a new homeless shelter this week and their timing could not have been better.

The Bismarck Tribune reports about 30 women and children stayed at Bismarck’s new emergency shelter on Monday night, a facility the United Way opened just in time to help during the winter storm.

“With it being one of the snowiest nights, we were happy to meet the need,” said executive director Jena Gullo.

The United Way is operating the shelter in a portion of the Sunrise Apartments building in downtown Bismarck.

This week's program features a chat with representatives from the YMCA.
