A former contestant on TV's The Voice was shot and fatally wounded following a Friday night concert in Florida.

The Associated Press reports Christine Grimmie was shot while signing autographs after a performance in Orlando.

Police say the singer's brother tackled the gunman, who then turned the gun on himself. AP quotes the chief of police as saying the guman was armed with two handguns and a knife.

Grimmie came in third on The Voice in 2014 after working with Adam Levine, one of the show’s "coaches." “I’m sad, shocked and confused,” Levine wrote online after the shooting.

Native North Dakotan Kat Perkins, who competed on the The Voice with Grimmie posted on Facebook: "My heart is so heavy right now... My dear friend, voice sister and roommate on the show... I have no words. Too soon. So tragic. My thoughts are definitely with the Grimmie family tonight."
