UPDATE:  A potpourri of weather is coming our way this weekend.

Mother nature is moody and here we go again this weekend.  Blizzard Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories have been posted for western North Dakota.  Up to 14 inches of snow and ice, which could lead to power outages and impossible travel.

A very strong winter storm is coming, and possible tornadoes for North Dakota this weekend.

The Blizzard Warning extends from southwest North Dakota and goes all the way up to the Turtle Mountains.  It includes the counties of Hettinger, Stark, Ward, Burke, Renville, Oliver, Morton, Grant, Mountrail, McHenry, and Dunn.  Including the cities of Dickinson, Mott, Regent, Hazen, Mandan, Flasher, Caron, Richardton, and Minot.  The Blizzard Warning will run from 1 pm Saturday to 7 pm Sunday.  A 1/10 to a 1/4 inch of ice is possible with this storm as well.

The Winter Weather Advisory will run from 7 pm Saturday evening to 7 pm Sunday evening.  This includes the counties Burleigh, Kidder, Pierce, Sheridan, and Wells Counties.  This includes the cities of Bismarck, Dawson, Tappen, and Steele.  4 to 6 inches of snow is possible.   Strong winds as high as 60 miles per hour will also be associated with this storm, which could lead to blizzard conditions.

In southeast North Dakota and the Red River Valley, severe thunderstorms are possible Friday evening and again on Saturday afternoon.  Isolated tornadoes and large hail are possible as temps soar into the low 70s on Saturday.

Bismarck Mandan will see a big swing in weather this weekend too.

Bismarck Mandan will see mostly rain from this system and possibly a lot of it.  Over an inch of rain with some thunder mixed in.  It will be very windy with wind gusts over 40 miles per hour by Saturday evening.  A spotty shower is possible today, with steady rain or thundershowers starting late tonight and will linger into Saturday.  Rain will change over to snow late Saturday and continue through early Sunday afternoon.  We could see between 2 and 4 inches of snow in Bismarck Mandan.  Look for a Winter Weather Advisory to be issued Saturday night and Sunday morning.

The heavy snow line will be not too far from Bismarck Mandan.  Look for rapidly melting snow with all this rain, which could cause some overland flooding.
