It's like something out of the Stephen King movie "It."

A listener of mine who farms out by Menoken, North Dakota told me about something disturbing.  Somebody or something has been seen near the town dressed as the very scary clown from the movie "It."

This isn't exactly something brand new.

After the remake of the original TV miniseries, the big-screen movie "It" was released in September of 2017.  Prior to the release date, "creepy clown" sightings were being reported across the nation.  Most of these sightings were just innocent people looking for attention.  A hoax, good clean scary fun.  A marketing ploy for the movie.  However, some people didn't find this sort of behavior acceptable and took matters into their own hands.

Reports of people shooting at clowns and other terrifying incidents swept across the nation in 2016.  Not all the clown activity was innocent.  Robberies and disturbing encounters with clowns, children, and law enforcement officers had the nation on edge.  You can read about a timeline of "creepy clown" sightings in America from ABC here.

I myself have always been a little bit traumatized by clowns.

I remember my parents taking me to the circus as a young boy and I wanted nothing to do with clowns.

So, when the It movies first came out, I wanted nothing to do with them either.  I have since seen the original mini-series from 1990 and the 2017 movie.  After seeing the movie "The Conjuring", no movie seems too scary after that.

I decided to do a little investigative reporting recently and I too had an encounter with this creepy clown.  I have to admit, it caught me off guard and I wasn't expecting it.  "It" was right where my listener friend thought I might find it.  I managed to get a quick snapshot of the clown and I was on my way.

I don't believe the community of Menoken is in any immediate danger.  Here is a picture of the "creepy clown."
