Willie Nelson has never been afraid to speak his mind, and one of his latest songs is bound to generate some talk.

The country-pop legend's newest album Ride Me Back Home, features a song called Immigrant Eyes. It's a plaintive tribute to immigrants, past and present who have come to America in the hope of making a better life for themselves. For many of us, these people were our grand- and great-grandparents.

The song makes a powerful impression, with Willie's understated but soulful vocal and Latino-tinged jazz guitar break. But given the tenor of the times, once has to wonder how much airplay this one will get.

Willie doesn't care. He's espoused unpopular causes before. And often, as in his open advocacy of legalization of marijuana, he's turned out to be on the right side of history.

Appended herewith is the video of Immigrant Eyes from YouTube. Listen and decide for yourself.
