Carmike Theaters applied for a license to serve beer in it's venue, but the City Counsel in Bismarck has cleared up the definition on the type of license the venue applied for.

The City Counsel make clear on the definition on the type of license the theater applied for. This type of license was meant for establishments that has table top (restaurant) service or at least a grill to cook food. According to the counsel, this type of license was not meant for snack bars or establishments without security.

City Attorney Charlie Whitman and the commissioners argued that serving alcohol in a theater would present a challenge in preventing minors from accessing it.

Commissioners did suggest that Carmike apply for a license that better fit their needs and establishment.
