Finally Healthy, Wentz Full Participant At Eagles Camp
Eagles head coach told reporters earlier today that Century alumnus Carson Wentz will be "full go" during the team's organized team activities.
The 2019 season will be a big one for Wentz. The Eagles have already picked up his fifth year option, so he won't become a free agent until 2021, but he needs to prove he can stay healthy.
The past season and a half have been trying times for Bismarck native Wentz was playing at an MVP in 2017 when a knee injury cut short his season. Last season the Eagles struggled until Wentz once again left with an injury — this time with a neck injury — and Nick Foles was able to lead a playoff push that saw them beat Chicago in the Wild Card round. To make matters worse, a publication in Philadelphia brought Wentz's leadership into question with a scathing article. Many of Wentz's teammates quickly came to his defense, but it only added to the Wentz-Foles debate in national media coverage.
The Eagles let Foles leave during the free agent period, meaning Philadelphia is putting full trust in Wentz. The team invested heavily into getting Wentz some new weapons as well, adding running back Miles Sanders, receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside, and tackle Andre Dillard in the draft, as well as bringing back receiver DeSean Jackson.
For now, it will just be nice to see Wentz take the field again. We can all agree that we'd love to see the Bismarck kid get back to MVP level play again.
