Forbes Magazine has Found the Richest Person in North Dakota

Forbes' has released a list of the richest person in every state in the U.S.

The richest person in the state of North Dakota is Gary Tharaldson with a net worth of $900 million. Tharaldson, 71, is known for being a hotel and real estate mogul. In 1982, he purchased his first Super 8 Motel in Valley City and has since purchased and built hotels across the country. He currently owns about 350 properties.

It turns out North Dakota is one of only seven states without a 'billionaire.' The other are Alabama, Alaska, Delaware, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Vermont. Of those states without billionaires, Tharaldson earns the most net worth.

Bill Gates is the richest person in America, as he continues to reside in Washington state with a net worth of $88.9 billion. Warren Buffet finished in second in Nebraska with $76.2 billion, followed by Mark Zuckerberg with $62.4 billion in California. The top five is rounded out with Michael Bloomberg in New York at $50.7 billion and Jim Walton in Arkansas with $38.5 billion.
