Former Bismarck Police Officer Accused of Tampering With Public Records

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A former Bismarck police officer is accused of falsifying his timecard while working in the police department's traffic division.

Forty-two-year-old Kevin Huber faces a misdemeanor charge of tampering with public records. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a year in jail and a $2,000 fine.

The Bismarck Tribune reports that Huber is accused of using a supervisor's login and password to get into the department's timekeeping system and add time to his timecard. Police Chief Dan Donlin says Huber received nearly $8,500 that he didn't earn.

Authorities say Huber resigned in April before being fired and has repaid the money.

A phone number for Huber is no longer in service. His attorney did not immediately respond to an Associated Press request for comment.
