Ground Beef Recall – May Have E-Coli
Check that meat in your freezer. A national recall on ground beef is underway.
KX News reports Cargill Meat Solutions is recalling over 132,000 pounds of ground beef products distributed nationwide.They say the meat may be contaminated with E. coli.
The Department of Agriculture has issued a statement on the recall. You can read it here. You can see the product labels here.
"The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 86R” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations nationwide."
The beef and beef products were produced and packaged June 21 of this year.
The Centers For Disease Control reported an outbreak of E. coli O26 in late August, with seventeen cases diagnosed, including one fatality, which they believe may be connected with the aforementioned products.
Authorities say they're mostly concerned about contaminated meat that may be in your freezer.
Remember: when in doubt, throw it out.
