Dole has issued a voluntary recall on iceberg lettuce products in North Dakota.

If you purchased any Dole iceberg lettuce (or food items containing Dole iceberg lettuce) on your most recent grocery store trip, you may want to take it back to the store and get your money back. Why? Because Dole may have sent out some batches of lettuce and other vegetables that can get you very sick. The United States Food & Drug Administration has notified the public that many states have been affected by the vegetable recall.

Some packages of Dole iceberg lettuce and other vegetables may be contaminated with Listeria.

Dole has issued a recall on some items containing iceberg lettuce with possible Listeria were distributed from Springfield, Ohio, and Soledad, California Dole facilities. According to the FDA's website, the food that is being recalled is due to the iceberg lettuce potentially being contaminated with Listeria. North Dakota reportedly got Dole iceberg lettuce from the Soledad, California facility.

Listeria can be a very dangerous illness.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Listeria is the infection that most commonly "affects pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems." Those infected with Listeria can reportedly experience everything from flu-like symptoms such as fevers and muscle aches to stillbirths and miscarriages.
