Haulers Dealing With Diesel Fuel Shortage

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A diesel shortage in the region has made for some long days for haulers trying to stock fuel stations.

WDAY television reports the No. 1 diesel fuel shortage has affected prices. The fuel currently costs about 60 cents more than No. 2 diesel fuel.

North Dakota Petroleum Marketers Association Mike Rud says the harsh winter weather has played a role. He says demand has outpaced supply by a longshot, and the industry hasn't yet caught up.

Leon Schwan, who hauls fuel to Petro stations in the Fargo-Moorhead area, says he's been forced to plan ahead. Schwan says the worst part is waiting in line, and he sees truckers driving from as far as Montana and South Dakota for fill-ups.
