Isn’t It Rich: Clown Shortage Nationwide
This may be good news or bad, depending on whether you're coulrophobic or a fan of the circus.
America faces a clown shortage.
The New York Daily News reports that membership in the World Clown Association (yes, there really is one) has declined from 3,500 to 2,400,.
Why? A spokesman for Clowns of America International (yes, that's real too) sums it up in one word: "attrition." In other words, old clowns are retiring and dying and fewer new clowns are replacing them.
Is clowning - at least in America - becoming a lost art?
