Judge: Cobb, Dutton to Stay Behind Bars
STANTON, N.D. (AP) — A 62-year-old white supremacist who tried to turn the small southwestern town of Leith into an Aryan enclave will remain in jail without bond.
The Bismarck Tribune reports Craig Cobb and 29-year-old follower Kynan Dutton appeared for a bond review hearing in Stanton on Monday.
South Central District Judge Bruce Haskell said he would continue Cobb's no bond status because of a Canadian warrant and because the charges involve threats against individuals.
Haskell decided that Dutton could be released if he can come up with $50,000 in cash.
Both have been held in the Stanton jail without bond since Nov. 16, when they were arrested on seven charges of terrorizing residents of Leith while on an armed patrol of Cobb's property in town.
