Karate Coach Faces GSI, Intrusion Charges

A Bismarck martial arts instructor faces charges of GSI and intrusion involving children.

KXMB News reports Adler Sheer is accused of filming students in a changing room ("surreptitious intrusion"), as well as touching one of the students (gross sexual imposition" or "GSI").

Documents say Bismarck Police answered a call to ATA Martial Arts this week for a report of "a child finding a phone in a changing room."

The 13-year-old girl gave the phone to Mr. Scheer after noting it had been turned on and recording for 16 minutes.

Upon questioning by investigators, Mr. Scheer admitted to recording his students on at least three occasions. He also told police he touched a student "over their clothes."

Police report all apparent victims were under the age of fourteen.

According to the court documents, the instructor said he was attempting to "satisfy his sexual curiosity and desire."

The suspect is currently out of custody on bond.

Gross Sexual Imposition is punishable by twenty years in prison.
