The public is invited to attend, and parking will be available at the Bank of North Dakota 1200 Memorial Highway in Bismarck.  Local streets will be closed from 8 am to 12 noon.

This will be a solemn observance of the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the United States, where nearly 3,000 people lost their lives in 3 separate attacks (a plane  struck each of the Twin Towers in New York City, and another one hit the Pentagon.  A 4th plane crashed in a field in rural Pennsylvania.)

If you can't make the observance, it will be live streamed on the North Dakota National Guard website here.

Speakers for the ceremony include North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, the commander in chief of the North Dakota National Guard, United States Senators John Hoven and Kevin Cramer, Major General Al Dohrmann, North Dakota National Guard adjutant general, and Command Sargent Major Eric Binstock, senior enlisted leader for the North Dakota National Guard are all scheduled to speak.  The emcee for the observance ceremony will be Mrs. Connie Sprynczynatyk.

The memorial honors the sacrifice of 29 service members, 14 of them were North Dakota National Guard Soldiers.

Where were you when the world stop turning on that September day?  It's something that we should never forget.  I know I never will.
