Do you want fries with that?

We love our dead flesh in North Dakota.  I would much rather BBQ my own burger at home but sometimes life's hectic pace makes fast food a necessity.

In fact, I have to credit a fast food joint for giving me my first opportunity behind a microphone.  I"m not sure if it was because they thought I had a good voice for drive-thru or because I was too slow at making burgers.  Either way, my time behind the microphone at a Burger King in Grand Forks, North Dakota back when I was in high school eventually led to my career in radio.  Coincidence?  Maybe, but it certainly gave me some confidence talking to people.

According to the LOUPE, they have broken down each state's favorite fast food burger and fast food joint.  This survey is based on responses from over 2,000 Americans and a year's worth of Google Trends Data.  Plenty of margin for error in this survey as they did not receive enough data from North Dakota, South Dakota, and Montana.  Because of that, North Dakota is grouped into the Midwest region.

North Dakota's Favorite Fast Food Burger?

None other than Burger King's Whopper.  As I mentioned earlier, as somebody who worked at Burger King in high school, I know this menu well.  I'm actually more partial to Burger King's Bacon Double Cheeseburger, to be honest.

How about North Dakota's Favorite Fast Food Restaurant?

A two-way tie.  None other than 5 Guys and Culvers.  5 Guys is always packed over in their new location in the parking lot of Kirkwood Mall.  Same with Culvers not too far from the radio station over on Main in Mandan.

All of the aforementioned restaurants make great burgers.  I would still put my homemade burgers on the grill up against any of the big chains.  It must be all that experience from my high school days.
