Our thanks to all the local businesses and good folks who "Painted the Town Pink" over the weekend.

It happened Saturday, as a number of businesses in Bismarck banded together to raise funds and awareness in the fight against cancer.

It all started with Susan Schwieter of Lillians in Bismarck, the daughter of two cancer survivors.

"I do what I can, I use the store as my platform to be able to give back to the community in lots of different ways," said Susan.

The event involved over 45 businesses around Bismarck and Mandan, and continues to bring awareness to breast cancer month using paint cans.

West Dakota Fox says the project helps cancer patients with emotional therapy, gas cards and housing during treatment.

Look for the "Paint the Town Pink" paint cans around town. They will accept your cash donations through the end of October.
