It had to happen.

As investigation continues into the mysterious disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, the psychics have crawled out of the woodwork.

One well-known psychic (who I won't dignify by naming) has offered his "assistance" in finding the remains of the missing plane.  Others have suggested a connection with the legendary Bermuda Triangle.  There is, however, one serious problem with that hypothesis.

The Bermuda Triangle doesn't exist.

As this article from Live Science.com reports, the "legend" of the Triangle was debunked in the seventies by a journalist named Larry Kusche.  Following a study of the alleged disappearances, Kusche concluded the "legend" was a mishmash of errors, fact-twisting and out-and-out "fabrications" (a nice word for lies).

The mystery of Flight 370 is no doubt a trauma for friends and family of the missing.  That however does not excuse the exploitation of the tragedy by the many flim-flam artists who always seem to emerge in times of tragedy to provide "comfort" to the bereaved.

I suppose we should at least be thankful that Slyvia Browne is not around...
