The County With The Worst Drug Problem In North Dakota
There is a war on the opioid crisis across the country and North Dakota is not immune to this nationwide problem.
This problem and the country has gotten to the point where the heroin reversal drug Naloxone, is readily available in most police cars and ambulances. This drug has saved many lives which otherwise would have died. This was unheard of 5-years ago.
24/7 Wall St. examined the amount of drug related deaths including accidental overdoses, homicide and suicide, per 100,000 residents. The time period reviewed was from 2012 through 2016 with information compiled by the CDC.
The worst county in North Dakota is Grand Forks county with an annual drug rate of 6.6 while the state is at 7.6. This equates to a majority of the drug related deaths in this time period occurred in Grand Forks County with a total of 22 deaths.
