This is the season for holiday parties and believe it or not, there are some people that make the worst decision of all, and that's getting behind the wheel while buzzed!

And according to 24/7 Wall St.com, North Dakota is the #1 state for DUI's.

"North Dakota had more deaths from drunk driving accidents per 100,000 residents  than any other state in the U.S. in 2012. The number of drunk driving deaths in  the state actually rose by 64.2% over the past 10 years ending in 2012, by far  the largest increase of any state in the country. The state had the highest  number of minors who said they engaged in binge drinking over the previous 30  days. Also, only Wisconsin had a higher percentage of people, in total, who said  they engaged in binge drinking over the prior month than North Dakota, which had  a total of 23.8%.

The other top states with the most DUI's  include Texas, South Dakota, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Montana.

The good news is Drunk driving deaths fell by 23% between 2002 and 2012 due in large part to the groups like MADD who have done a great job bring attention to the issue through the media and education. But for much of the United States, drunk driving is still a problem.

North Dakota is at the top of many lists these days, most are very good. Low unemployment, best state to retire, one of the best states for quality of life but this is one of the lists that is not such a source of pride.

During the holiday season, make sure to celebrate responsibly.
